Three sets of short poems from life, at times pointedly personal and at others omniscient, partisan, comic, and furious. Taking its title from Percy Bysshe Shelley's unfinished poem "The Triumph of Life," the book refers periodically to the great procession of history and people named there and shares the nerve of Shelley's unintentionally final question: "Then what is life?"
