Articulated Wooden Figure

$360.00

A hand-cut wooden articulated figure constructed from printed packaging, with jointed arms and legs secured by small metal fasteners. The torso retains remnants of lithographed branding with partial lettering still visible and crest imagery, suggesting the reuse a cigar box. Fragments of decorative borders remain along the lower edge. The limbs pivot freely, allowing the figure to be posed.

Surface wear, paper loss, and abrasions consistent with age and handling. The graphics remain legible in part, contributing to the object’s visual character rather than detracting from it.

An example of improvised ephemera — utilitarian material transformed into something animated and playful.

Likely late 19th or early 20th century.
