Neoclassical English Staffordshire jug with a transfer-printed design based on artist John Flaxman's drawing's of Homer's The Iliad in striking tones of black and umber. This piece depicts Thetis, mother of Achilles, visiting Vulcan Hephaestus and Charis to procure new armor for her son after Hector stole his original armor.
